Methodology
Most "best tools" lists are ranked by who pays. Here is exactly how a Cocoabean.ai recommendation is produced, so you can judge whether to trust it.
Scoring is rule-based, not generated
Each tool carries fit criteria: business type, stage, team size, budget tier and goals. Your answers are compared to those criteria, one point per match. The list you see is the result of that comparison, nothing else.
Language is written after the decision
We use a language model only to reword the reasons already computed — it never chooses a tool, invents a price, a feature or a claim. If it fails, you see the plain reason instead.
Stacks stay small
At most two tools per category, and Lean mode trims further. If nothing scores well, we say so rather than padding the list.
We publish what a tool is bad at
Every recommendation carries a 'not a fit if…' line. A tool that suits a solo founder often does not suit a team of ten, and the page says which.
Placement can't be bought
No tool pays for a position, a ranking or a badge. Commercial relationships don't enter the scoring at any point.
Pricing is never invented
Where a published price range exists we show it. Where it doesn't, the page says 'Pricing varies' — we don't estimate.
Tools are reviewed on a rolling basis and each carries a last-reviewed date internally. If a recommendation looks wrong for your business, it usually means one of your answers no longer describes you — reassess and the stack changes with it.
